This & That

I just realized I hadn't blogged since last Monday--OMG.  So unlike me!  I'd like to say I've been slammed with stuff, but, honestly, I've just been absolutely pooped come my usual blogging time (after the kids go down for their nightly slumbers), so yeah, just been slacking I guess.  BUT!  I'm here to change that and give you a lovely little weekly update post as to the riveting (j/k) things that have been a'happening 'round these parts.

Last week when the burritos were at my parents my dad took the day off work and they planned to take them to the Zoo.  Well, low-and-behold, it was pouring out so no dice on the Zoo...instead, they decided to go ride the Metro choo choo instead!  (aka ride the Metrolink all over STL).

Patrick needless to say was completely obsessed and loved riding it!  Rosie, in her usual state, was completely unfazed by the mornings happenings and retreated to her go-to state: siesta land.

After the kiddos finished riding the choo choo they went to visit Great (their great grandma) at her rehab room and Patrick assumed his favorite pastime as of recently: brushing people's hair.  Maybe he'll grow up to be a beautician!  He is obsessed with hair and brushes.

No reason for this pic other than it was a sweet sweet exchange between the two kiddos one night this past week and the way Patrick is always wanting to hold her hand.  It is just the cutest thing ever.

I was explaining to Mike how you can get the Tula on solo whether you want it on front or back, so naturally I swopped up my go-to test subject Scoots and showed him how easy it was.  I also had to snap a selfie too cause, babywearing looks way good on Scoots, don't you think?!

So Patrick has been showing a wee bit of interest in the potty as of late.  Shocking.  He has actually gone pee on the potty a few times too and seemed super excited about it.  We got him some Thomas and Minion undies as well as some new Applecheeks learning pants and he gets an M&M every time he goes #1, and gets a new train or car when he goes #2.  We are definitely not pushing this potty training on him AT ALL--we want him to do it on his own accord when he's ready (we think it'll be easier for everyone!), BUT we want to be prepared with his incentives/motivations when he gives us signs that he's ready.  So, we are prepared!

I mean, how flippin' cute are her little toothies?!  And I'm bursting with maturity in our selfie.  HA!

I AM IN LOVE with all of the custom shoes my amazing aunt Kate is making Rosie!  I especially love the custom embroidered ones with her initials.  GAHHHH!  So.darn.cute.

No real reason for this pic other than pumping (and nursing too) is really exhausting me lately.  I don't mind doing it, but it is a time suck and also an energy suck it feels like.  I think that's a big reason why I'm so tired lately...and I literally have to plan my days around my nursing/pumping schedule and it's taking a physical toll I think in just wearing me out!  BUT!  My goal is to make it at least a year, and we're almost 7 months strong into it (which is about a month shy of how long I went with Patrick!) so I don't think we'll be stopping or weaning anytime soon :)  Just using this post as a little outlet to vent.

This was the site of a missed photoshoot earlier this week.  I was suppose to photograph a pup who was terminal with cancer; however, she was too sick to make our shoot and ended up going up to to the big park in the sky.  Gah.  Moving on before I start crying on my keyboard.

Mike has been on TV A LOT lately, which means one thing: lots of crime and homicides.  I really wish this city would stop murdering each other, cause, it's getting old real fast.  I don't want to dwell on this either, so I'm not going to...but, I do like seeing Mike on TV knowing that he's SAFELY working a scene.  That makes this LEO wife feel a smidgen better.

Someone is standing!  --Totally misleading, btw.  She's being supported by the back of the couch...but besides that she is standing!  We'll see if she starts to be mobile soon (doubt it)...I like the state she's in now where she just sits there and observes.

Our favorite bird Goose turned 88 years young this week and we had a fabulous time celebrating the day with her at the Pond with some Chinese food!  Patrick and Rosie both love her oh-so-much and it is so cute to hear Patrick squeal with excitement when he sees her and runs over to her yelling her name and wanting to brush her hair.

Just a friendly little PSA that I posted on instagram earlier this week about how EASY it is to cloth diaper, dispelling the myth that it takes too long.  This is about 3.5 days worth of diapers for Rosie and it took me a little more than 5 minutes to fold and stuff all of her diapers and put them away.  Easy peasy.  And they are so adorable and fluffy and cute too!

When his KiKi visits, things get crazyyyyyy -- like you put stickers all over yourself then refuse to take them off when it's time to get dressed.  Haha!  KiKi lets him do anything!  --Which, I think she let me do everything when I was his age and she was watching me!

I'll end this rambling-all-over-the-place post with this pic from TinySuperheroes volunteering last week with some of my UA coworkers.  We had a great time helping Robyn empower some kiddos and I would love love LOVE to go back soon and help her even more!  I love her mission and what she's doing and want to do anything and everything I can to help her achieve her goals!
Whew.  Okay!  That was quite a tid bit this and that post, eh?!  It was all over the place!  Forgive me, it's 11pm and my mind is focused on one thing (my bed) and I just wanted to get this post hatched out so I can go curl up in it!  Stay tuned, a Halloween recap post will be coming soon too!  Have a great rest of your weekend friends, and don't forget to fall back!

Finer Fall Things

While Patrick was off having the time of his life with his KiKi at her lake this past weekend, Mike and I were holding down the fort at home with one child...which was so weird and quiet.

Mike and I always say how much of a vacation it feels like when we just have ONE kid to worry about...whether it be Patrick OR Rosie...so this weekend was like a little vacation for us!  Having to just worry about one cucumber--and the one that is currently the easiest and non-mobile was a crazy welcomed break to get some stuff done...cause Mike was off all weekend too!

Saturday was super relaxing--I hit up Target solo (!!!) in the morning, we had lunch with some friends, and then we all took siestas (not really, Mike and Rosie did, I got stuff done around the house!) before I headed off to my photoshoot in the late afternoon--which turned out really well, by the way, despite the predicted icky weather.

Rosie was getting to have her own sleepover at the grandparents cause Mike and I were off to my aunt Monica's annual Halloween bash!  This year we went super original with costumes: cops and robbers.  Actually, I was suppose to be this gal from Reno 911 (Kimball) and Mike was my prisoner.  I was pretty jazzed about my costume, because 99% of it was legit police gear.  My {fake} gun even looked real.

We had so much fun at the party, as usual.  Monica's theme was some kind of creepy circus (no me gusta clowns) and she, once again, went above and beyond with her over-the-{big} top (see what I did there?! haha) decorations and food.

My mom was a gnome...and she sat in the front yard and I snapped this pic and it was so darn funny.  She's a riot, isn't she?!

Anyways, Sunday morning I picked Ro Ro up from the grandparents and we decided to take advantage of both Mike and I being off ANDDDDD not having a crazy 2 year old running around, so we YOLO-ed it and lived big...we snapped a few pics and off to Aldis we went.

BUT WAIT!  We were feeling REALLY adventurous and ambitious so we decided to install Patrick's new carseats in both of our cars, which meant taking his current one, flipping it around, and installing that for Rosie now, since she was getting too big (heavy) for her pumpkin seat.  Before Rosie served as product-tester, she was taking a little siesta on the couch with Scooter and it was the cutest thing EVER.  Then she woke up and used him as a table for her iPad.

She clearly is a fan of her new ride.  6 months old she is and now in her convertible carseat, and Patrick was a smidgen older (although probably the same size she is since she's bigger than he was at this age) at 8 months when we flipped him.  Here's a lovely side-by-side since you know I'm a huge fan of those :)

Before siestas I snapped a little teaser pic of Rosie's Halloween costume and I think I melted into a thousand pieces...gahhhh!  I cannot wait for Saturday!!!

After Rosie's (and Mike's too, let's be honest) nap on Sunday, we got up and headed out to snap Matt, Katie, and Lizzy's family pics.  Now, I'm biased, but gahhhh!  These colors!  Here's a few sample snaps (the rest on my photog blog here if you're interested) from the shoot.  I have so many favorites.

I mean, how freaking gorgeous were those colors?!  And Matt and Katie and Lizzy?!!  GAHHH.  LOVE.  One of my favorite shoots to date!  And how amazing is Mike as my second shooter?!  I love that he's wearing Rosie in the Tula AND snapping pics.  He's just the best EVER.

Anyways, so after their shoot we headed over to the Mooneys for family dinner.  I snapped a few pics of Rosie wearing allllll the things I swore I'd never put her in (monograms, pink, headbands galore!)...

Gosh.  I could just eat her up!  Erin and Curtis came over with their niece (Curtis' sister Brittany's kiddo) as well, so we got a nieces pic of Erin and Curtis on the swing!  Game faces for everyone it seems :)

After dinner we went home and easily (so easy with just one!) put Rosie to sleep, then I edited my little heart out while watching our Sunday night favorite show: Guy's Grocery Games.  We passed out literally as soon as the DVR stopped.  Mama was tired.

Ro Ro is 29 whole weeks old today...and minus a few early smiles, her true colors shined through when I put her in the car with an epic resting bitch face pic to start off this Monday.  Ha.  Have a great week friends!  --Hopefully better than Rosie's started off :)

Patrick's Big Weekend

This weekend was a BIG one for Patrick: it was his first weekend-long sleepover BY HIMSELF!  Okay, so yes, he's slept over at either grandparents solo before, but never anywhere else, and never not in a crib!  GAHHHH!  He's growing up too fast!

Anyways, so a few weeks ago my aunt Kate (or KiKi as Patrick calls her) asked if she could take Patrick to the Heritage festival down by where she lives--and since I had a photoshoot, we wouldn't be able to go, but Patrick definitely could!  She asked if she could just keep him all weekend--that she wanted to take him to the indoor pool in town on Sunday, and both Mike and I were all for it!  Obviously we were nervous about how he'd do sleeping in a big bed...and if he'd be able to not be a total whiny boy the whole time...but Kate reassured us that it'd be fine and he'd be good as gold, so, off he went!

This was the first picture Kate sent us -- our big guy riding a pony all by himself!  Gosh, if he isn't growing up too fast, I don't know what he's doing!

So he had a blast at the Heritage festival with his KiKi!  And apparently stole her hat too :)  They had so much fun, and Kate said these kind of events were the perfect thing to take him too because it was all tailored for little kids and he had a blast.

They attempted nap time on Saturday, but Patrick wasn't having it (shocker) -- I think he was just too excited to be down there by himself!  After some rest time they went for a golf cart ride and played at the playground at Kate's lake with their friend Ruby.

Patrick, again, had an absolute blast!  After visiting with a few friends they headed back to Kate's for grilled cheese and a bath before bedtime.

Bedtime was what I was most concerned about...but, alas my fears were unwarranted because Kate said Patrick did great!  He did wake up early (6:30am! GAHHH!) but stayed in bed all night (minus one falling out episode) and was good as gold.  Ahhh, so much relief!

They planned on going to the pool for open swim on Sunday, and then we were going to either go get Patrick or Kate was going to bring him back home.  Well, I knew Kate was coming up Monday anyways, so I asked her if she'd want him to stay another night--YES!  She definitely did!  Don't get me wrong, I missed him like crazy, but he was having so much fun I thought he'd enjoy another night.

Luckily we had FaceTime to keep us connected...and Patrick seemed to love that!  Sunday after swimming he got to go to Dairy Queen and get some dinner and ice cream before heading off to bed again--which it was another night that went really well according to Kate!  I have high hopes for him sleeping well on our trip to Florida in a few weeks!  What a relief!

Anyways, Patrick had an absolute blast on his first weekend away, and even though his daddy and I missed him like crazy, we were so happy to see how much fun he was having and to know that he can do lots and lots of sleepovers with his KiKi whenever she wants to have him!
