Upworthy Post

EEEEPPPPPP!  So I've do a bit of freelance blogging here and there--mostly around educational technology--but lately I decided to see if I could get my feet wet doing some writing for a big time site: Upworthy.  A friend from high school posted that her company (Upworthy) was looking for freelancer bloggers so I shot her an email and got the ball rolling--I had THE PERFECT blog to do for this "uplifting" site: TinySuperheroes.  I wrote up a pitch and sent it in, fingers crossed.

Well, fast forward to today: my pitch was accepted (woot!), I did oodles of revisions and drafts, and then I get an email today in my inbox saying my post went live.  YEE-FREAKING-HAW!  I was so excited!  So excited that something I wrote was actually going to be read by more than my 3 loyal readers here AND, most importantly, that my good buddy Robyn's business was going to get some time in the spotlight--and hopefully get some people to sponsor some capes!

Robyn is one of my oldest and dearest friends and I love her so much--and the stuff she's doing with TinySuperheroes is nothing short of amazing.  She is the most passionate, kindest, awesomest person I know and I hope and pray anyone reading the post I wrote gives her some support and sponsors a cape for a kiddo in need.

Anyways, my Upworthy post is written below--take a look at it, read it, watch the amazing American Express embedded video, SHARE IT (pretty please!!!), and then maybe go sponsor a cape.  I'll love you forever (wait.  I already do.  You're reading this!! MUAHHH!).

My Favorite Time of the Year!

Next to holiday time, September is my favorite time of the year.  Why?!  The weather, you probably guess--and that is partly true.  I do love the weather and especially snapping family pics in it...but no.  That's not why.  The reason I love September: NEW iPHONE TIME!  WAHOOOOO!

Okay.  It's no secret that I'm a huge tech fiend: I love getting new tech gadgets.  Well, every fall a new iPhone is released and I get giddy as a kid on Christmas morning when I order mine and then it arrives the day it's released.  This year was no exception: I was getting the new iPhone 6S Plus (in gold! squeal!)--my EIGHTH iPhone--I've had every single iPhone except the original.  And no, I don't have them all...pre-hoarder husband, I use to get a new one and sell my old one.  Now my old one gets handed down to Mike and his becomes a backup/emergency phone.

I left this lovely note for the FedEx guy before I left for work on Friday--didn't want to chance missing my beloved iPhone drop off if he rang the bell and Mike didn't answer.

Well, Mike heard his knock about 2pm and my little beauty arrived!  I was so excited--I raced home right after school and went to work getting it all set up.  I actually left my phone at home (WHATTTT?!! #afirst) because it was still importing everything from my old phone onto it when I went to do my friend's sunset photos.  When I got home it still took another hour (4 hours total!! GAHHHH!) to copy my stuff onto my new toy, but it was worth the wait: the camera alone was worth the upgrade!  It.is.amazing.

Since I don't cart my big camera everywhere, I want a good 'point and shoot' camera that's with me all the time, hence why I always upgrade my iPhone every year--I want the new camera!  Well, this phone's camera is a huge upgrade from the last couple iPhones (which hadn't really ever updated) and I am loving it oh-so-much.

The photos just seem clearer and crisper--even in the dim low-light of our house.  I love love love it.  And another awesome point?!  The front-facing selfie camera is actually 5 MP now (a HUGE jump!) and has a flash!  So your selfies don't look grainy and fuzzy anymore.  WOOT!

So yeah, my weekend has been consumed with learning all of the ins and outs of my new toy and figuring out any and all hidden features that I didn't know about before.  I am in love.  And a year from now I'll be writing a new blog post about how I'm oodling over the new iPhone--just you wait.

Anyways, the rest of the weekend I spent taking lots of pictures (5 photo shoots total!  EEKKKK!  And even as I sit here typing this Sunday afternoon during nap time I still have 2 more shoots this evening!).  If you are interested check out my photog blog to see those.

Saturday we spent the morning doing a much needed grocery shopping trip and Patrick clearly enjoyed having a trusty companion (cause the cart was full!) next to him in the big shopping buggy.  Classy parenting right thurrrr peeps.

Saturday night we have 2 of Mike's coworkers and their families over for dinner--each of us had 2 kids, a boy and a girl.  We had 6 kids under 5 (including 3 2-year olds!) at our house and it was an exhausting blast!  The kids had so much fun playing together.  I wish I'd have gotten more pics, but this is the only one I snapped...and of course Patrick wasn't looking.  Typical.

We also finally overcame our fear of cloth overnight with Rosie and invested in some fitteds (thanks for the push Tiff!) and they have worked AHHHHHMAZINGLY well.  No more sposies at night for this little lady!  Woo hoo!! :) #savingmoney!

Last but not least, here's a photo of Rosie during tummy time aka me trying to con her into rolling over.  Yep.  Not having it.  In my 6 month (WHATTTT???!!) Rosie post in another week I'm sure I'll be writing how she's still not rolling over.  Whatevs.  You do you Rosie, and roll whenever your little heart tells you to.

Anyways, that's all I've got for this dreary cloudy Sunday.  Have a great week friends!!

Hashtag: BORING.

Seriously.  Could this post be any more boring?!  I haven't even started it yet, and even debated writing it, cause, honestly, nothing has really gone on since I last posted earlier this week.  We are living one boring life people! Ha!

BUT!  I will say boring trumps any day in which the dreaded plague was involved.  Those 3 weeks were BRUTAL with Patrick being sick and even though this week has been categorized by me as uneventful and 'boring' I will take it leaps and bounds over the hell that poor kid went through for 21 agonizingly long days.

So!  Where to begin?!  Ahhhh, really, not much has gone on this week.  Mike worked, I worked, Patrick and Rosie got oodles of snuggles and kisses and playtime with both sets of grandparents and great aunt Kate, and that's about it.

I will say I am still super super bummed and depressed that my favorite FAVORITE blogger to follow, Grace Patton over at Camp Patton is no more (forever?!  temporarily? WHO KNOWS!) and I'm super upset about it.  She had this amazing wit when she wrote and I'd be engrossed in allllll of her posts all the time.  My buddies Tiff and Lauren and I have been pouring our sorrows out via .gifs in a group text.  It has helped, but we still deeply DEEPLY miss Grace.  My friend Mary Pat sympathizes as well too I know, she was another big Camp Patton fan.  COME BACK TO US GRACE!!

Okay, onto happier things: my iPhone 6S PLUS comes in the mail sometime today and OMG to say I'm excited about it is an understatement! I cannot flippin' wait!  (I get like this every.single.year. around September when the new phone comes out.  Technology is my crack and new iPhone days are like Christmas to me!)  I thought originally I wasn't going to get my new phone till mid-October cause I had to order through AT&T to keep my upgrade deal thing the same and I was okay with that...but yesterday the FedEx gods sent me a shipping confirmation that my precious gold baby would be arriving by 8pm today!  Cue happy dance!  I'm sure I'll be love blogging over it in no time friends.

I am suppose to have SIX photoshoots this weekend...OHH EMM GEE, right?!  Right.  Super busy--but fall is my favorite time to take pictures!  The weather is gorgeous and the scenery is great.  Stay tuned to my Facebook page and photography blog if you're so interested to see the snaps I take.

So honestly, that's about all I've got.  BUTTTTTTT we all know I can't write a post without a picture...or thirty, so here it goes...some boring weekly adventures from the Mooneys.  Yee-haw.

Rosie still hasn't rolled over.  Whatevs.  Girlfriend likes her back.  And she's getting really good at sitting up by herself for 3 second intervals.  You do you, Rosie girl.

The burritos got some quality snuggle time with their Goose this week and seeing pictures like these melt my heart.  They sure love their water fowl and I sure love seeing them with her.

Patrick is really into coloring lately and (fortunately, for now!) he's keeping his doodles in the coloring books!  I'm sure I'm going to be eating my words writing this now...

My mom took Patrick to get a haircut and I think it aged him about 5 years.  He looks so handsome with his little trim and shaped up hairs!

I had a late start this week so decided to bring donuts over to my parents when I dropped the kiddos off.  Patrick was notably shocked that he got to eat an entire donut AND didn't have to share it--or have it cut up.  #LiveBig little dude.

Last but not least, oodles of Rosie smiles, cause they're my favorite.  You're welcome.  Happy Friday friends!  Have a good weekend!

Fun-Filled Little Weekend

What a jam-packed weekend we had 'round these parts!  Fortunately the weather was absolutely gorgeous, so that made for the weekend all that much better.

So!  Where to start!  Ahhhh, Friday.  Well, Mike was suppose to be off Thursday and Friday, but he took a secondary detail job from 4-10pm Thursday and 7am-10pm (!!!) on Friday, so the kiddos and I were flyin' solo Friday night.  YOLO! --not really.  We sure miss Mike when he's working nights, especially on the 3 week loops when he SHOULD be home at night.

Our friends Lauren and Bert came by Friday night before their dinner plans and dropped off this amazingly awesome SWAT police costume for Patrick.  A wittle big, but amazing!  I need to get some pics of him by his police car in it.  And no, he's not being this for Halloween--he's being a train conductor--but I couldn't pass up this amazing costume she found for him...kids always need dress-up clothes, right?!  Right.

Mike sent me a similar meme with a dog and a phone, and I felt like I could create one muchhhhhh better with Scooter, so boom.  Here ya go.  And seriously, #lifegoals.  I'd flippin' love to be able to text Scooter...which I'm sure our convos would go something like this.

Friday nights when dad works be like this: YOLO.  Haha!  They both look terrified.  Sorry Scoots.  Sorry Ro Ro, I couldn't resist.

Rosie was livin' large Friday night eating her frozen milk in her mesh feeding back.  Girlfriend got so angry when it all melted and she didn't have anything to chomp anymore.  Ha!  Takes after her mama.  Hangry-ness.  I *think* she may have some toothies coming in??  Broken record, I know.  I've been saying it for months.  Who knows...but I do swear I see something.  And yeah, still no food.  No intention of starting that soon either, cause she's still sleeping oh-so-good and I don't want to deal with the mess.  Plus, she's still packing on the pounds just on milk.  Why rock the boat?!  Anyways, so Patrick and I split a pizza for dinner and OMG.  The kid ate FOUR HUGE PIECES, in addition to 2 containers of mandarin oranges, 2 pouches of applesauce, and almost an entire pack of raspberries...and he was still hungry!  I think he's officially recovered from the plague and got his appetite back--and working on regaining those 4 pounds back that he lost.  You do you Patrick.

Since my mom has grandkid withdrawals ALL.THE.TIME., they stopped by Friday night to see the burritos before they went to bed.  Rosie was wearing her new Love diaper and OMG, it might be my new favorite BumGenius print.  I love love LOVE it.  And I need like 5 more I think...or at least one for Patrick so they can match.

Saturday morning Mike has to work but I took the cherubs to my favorite favorite FAVORITE thing about living in Kirkwood: the annual Greentree parade!  I fondly remember going to this parade every.single.year. growing up AND sitting in the same spot!  I love that my kiddos get to experience the same parade and festivities I did when I was there age!  Such amazing nostalgia!  Just wish Mike could have been there with us.  Next year...hopefully.

Rosie was pretty much like, "whatevs" the entire parade with her resting bitch face, but Patrick had an absolute blast sitting with his cousin and grandparents watching the parade and catching all of the candy he could.  He did sooooo well just staying put and watching all of the floats and people go by.  He really is starting to expand his .2 second attention span!  Go Patrick go!

Yeah, they look nothing alike.  Parade Patrick in 2013 at 4 months, Rosie in 2015 at 5 months.  At least they both are masters of the resting bitch face.  Well done offspring.

So that's my Wizard of Oz inspired Oh My! Tula and I so so so wish I'd have put red socks on Rosie!  How cute would that picture have been?!  Side note: I can't wait for my custom accessories for that Tula to come in!  Hopefully soon!!

After the parade we went back to the Mooneys for lunch and I snapped a pic of the little Mooney lady cousins (cause Patrick's attention span reset and he was off the ground before I could whip my phone out).  I hope they grow up to be best buddies!  Cousins are just the best and I can already see how much these two love each other!

So Ro Ro stilllllll hasn't rolled over--front to back or back to front--but girlfriend can sit up by herself for a wittle bit before toppling over.  WHAT??!!  I think this is why she sleeps so well--she hasn't figured out how to flip over yet and get angryyyyy about being on her tummy.  Who knows.  Don't get me wrong, I'm in NO HURRY for her to be mobile!  All of these other March/April/May baby friends are rollin' and movin' and flippin' and crawlin' and I'm like "good for them!" and silently smiling at Rosie for not moving much and just being a lazy easy going non-mobile baby...cause I know it's not gonna last much longer.

Saturday night we went to my good friend Sammy's wedding--a much MUCH needed night out for Mike and I!  We were so excited to get out and celebrate...especially with some college friends I hadn't seen in years!

How gorgeous is Sammy?!  And her dress?!!  Gahhhh!  It was a beautiful wedding and reception and I'm soooo sooo sooo excited for her and her new hubby Steve!  --Oh, they totally got to meet Ozzie Smith after their wedding too.  So jelly.

The kids spent the night at my mom's and she posted this picture of Rosie with some Cabbage Patch kids.  OMG.  She looks JUST like them, doesn't she?!!  I was dying when she sent me this.  She's totally getting her one of these hats made too.  I can't wait!!

Mike took off Sunday (thank the good Lord above) so we decided to hit up the Greentree festival and car show before going to my cousin Adrienne's son Cole's baptism.  Knowing how crazy crowded it gets from years past, we elected to ditch the stroller and carry both kids.

GENIUS.  It was oh-so-much easier to carry both kids than try and fight the crowds with the strollers.  Plus, we were all able to get in the sporadic picture with my moms Kirkwood girl friends we ran into too!

I was getting hangry so we elected to grab a quick snack before heading to the baptism...and I was so nice to cover snoozin' Rosie up with a napkin so I could indulge in a corn dog and (not pictured) fried Oreos.  Ohhhh boy were those tasty.

So Patrick did something he NEVER EVER does on the way from Greentree to Cole's baptism: he fell asleep in the car!  He was chipper and excited one moment then BAM!  Out like a light!  Guess all that gorgeous fresh air wore him out.

After the baptism I snapped this pic of Mike holding Rosie up and it just melts my heart.  I love seeing him love on this little girl and it just makes me want to burst into a puddle of happy mama mush.

Patrick has been getting to hang with his second cousin Ethan a lot this summer too--we're so glad they moved back to STL!  These boys are too cute together and Patrick is always willing to hold his hand and give him hugs and kisses...then push him down the next second.  #Boys.  Sheesh.

And to conclude this super duper early morning weekend recap post, Scooter and Rosie's face say it all: :-| MEHHH.  Monday.  I wish the weekend would have lasted a few days longer so we could have more family time (cause it was oh-so-much fun what we had the past 2 days!!) and enjoy this absolutely gorgeous fall weather STL is having!  Oh well, gives me something to look forward to next weekend when Mike is off for 3 (!!!) days.  Ya-freaking-hoo!

Our 24 week old Rosie is all smiles today and hopes you are too!  Have a great Monday and week friends!
