Taking Pictures

I have always loved to take pictures.  Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I pick up my camera and snap some pics.  I instantly feel better.  I just love taking pictures--and, most of the time, I like to keep my place behind the camera instead of in front of it.  I was so excited when I got this bad boy when I went off to college.  I thought it was the coolest thing to be able to snap a picture with your phone then send it to someone!  I also remember forking out like $400 for my first digital camera around that same time too.  I spent like half of my high school graduation money on a canon PowerShot digital camera that had a whopping 2 megapixels.  I loved that camera, and it captured some great memories during my college years.

Lately I have really been loving all of the different people and families I've been able to shoot for my photog business.  I get sooooo excited when someone emails or texts me asking me to do pictures for them--I just love doing it!  I recently bought a new camera--a Canon EOS 6D--and I am officially in love.  It's a huge upgrade from my Canon Rebel T3 I had (or still have...that's my fisheye camera now!) and it takes amazing pictures.  Although, I do spend a fair amount of time post-shooting editing the pictures so they are just perfect.  I've had a lot of people ask me what I use to edit my photos...and I really just use (right now!) two different programs on my Mac: Aperture and Adobe Photoshop.  For on-the-go editing on my iPhone, hands-down the best editing app I've found is Snapseed.  They use to make a Mac desktop app too, but for some reason don't anymore (boo hoo!)--however, Snapseed is owned by Google, so if you use Google+ and want to edit your photos within Google+, you're doing it using Snapseed.

This post is definitely not a sales pitch by any means (although, if you are in STL and want pics, give me a shout!!), but more so a post about how much I love photography...and how with each shoot I'm learning more and more about light composition, aperture, shutter speed, using natural light to my advantage, and so much more.  I love reading articles online about photography and techniques--what settings people use to take a certain picture, and then what editing techniques they use to enhance it.  I don't know if I'll ever consider myself a "professional photographer" (I have a hard time considering myself a "professional" anything!), but boy, I sure love taking pictures.

I thought I'd post a few of my favorite shots I've done recently.  Obviously, if you want to see more of what I've done, you can "like" my photography page on Facebook here or check out my website here.  Enjoy...I know I sure do when I take these! :)
